My parents/their church community fund is at $675…. That’s so awesome but they need so much more.
Their house took on FIFTEEN FEET of dirty nasty water and everything is ruined and gone. They are starting completely from scratch. Their house was insured so things will be fixed but it’s so much more than sheetrock and windows. It’s forks, spoons, sheets, bras, hangers, shoes, picture frames,...

Hustlin'
If you follow me on twitter (you don’t.) you would have seen like a million tweets to celebs about my parents. At first I was like “That is brilliant Kendra, they will all totally see it and help and everything will be better.” Well, now I’m like “omg Kendra, you’re a spam bot and you need to stop!” But I can’t! Someone will see & help & it will be all better!
So far… Not yet. But I’m...
My parents lost it all in Isaac →
kendrawright:
My parents completely lost their home in 15 feet of water. Their house lies on the water retention side of the Braithwaite flood wall.
My parents, Kenny and Tammy Flaming, moved to Braithwaite to pastor Cornerstone Church of God. A part of me feels like I should leave that information out of it but another feels like you need to know that my parents are good people. They are more...

(not) sleeping in a storm
11:35
I’m lying in the middle of my apartment, on the floor and away from windows because I’m paranoid. My dog Maxie is doing everything she can to change my focus from my typing, to her. I have slept for a few hours today trying to find some relief from my allergies. How is four 24 hour Zyrtec and one Alegra not enough?
I have power, air conditioning, and water so I consider myself...

Hurricane Isaac
Its official, my parents lost their home. If you’re watching the news, there’s been a lot of coverage on an area called Braithwaite. That is exactly where they live. The news have been showing pictures of a flood wall, my parents live within the flood wall which is holding the water in. Their house is just gone.
I was able to FaceTime my mom for a few short moments. She was playing with her...
phantombeaver asked: I'm currently watching the coverage of Isaac at the news here in Sweden, right as I read your post. I can't seriously imagine how horrible and scared you must all be feeling right now, and I really admire your courage and strength! My heart and thoughts are with all of you in New Orleans, and I'm so sorry I can't really do anything more except hoping that all this will be over...
burningthelotus asked: Sorry about your family home, but glad to hear your family is safe. My thoughts are with you and yours.
I am from California.
I haven’t done a thing today except curl my hair and wash lettuce.

Isaac
I have way too much anxiety over this storm. This is me venting it all out.
The storm is projected to hit Tuesday. Today the weather stations were able to spit out all of their guesses with the disclaimer that they will know more as the storm progresses. Today gave me plenty of time to work up an unnecessary internal panic. I know that I’ll be at a safe place. I know that it could become...

Why Millennials aren’t buying cars or houses, and what that means for the economy
HAHA NO MONAY!!!!!
Maybe our generation aren’t buying houses and cars because EVERYTHING IS SO FUCKED
You want us to actually talk to bank people and get home loans and auto loans? They are still fucking us! Any time I go into a bank, I feel disgusted. You want me to do MORE business with the who...

Adopt a dog!
Justen and I recently added a four legged creature to our family! We went to St Tammany Department of Animal Services, which I don’t think is a kill shelter but it’s definitely not advertised as a no-kill shelter. I had “shopped” on their website to see what they had available and manage to easily convince Justen just to look at the dogs. We went one Thursday morning and was greeted by a lady who...
bullet (bang-bang) points
It’s taken six months of marriage for Justen and I to finally reach the point of “ok we really need to get on the same financial page.” We got a Sam’s Club membership, banned eating out (I’m trying to wiggle out cash for sushi), and no clothes shopping (please pray for me!!!!!). And we went to all cash for everything except for bills. Hopefully all of the changes...
